Daito-Ryu
Daito-Ryu Aikijujutsu is a traditional Japanese martial art. It is one of the many styles of jujutsu that were part of the fundamental martial skill for all bushi, or warriors of feudal Japan. Daito-Ryu's sublime elegance and practical efficacy are products of more than 800 years of development and refinement. Daito-ryu employs a wide range of throwing, pinning, disarming and joint immobilizing techniques. The use of aiki, or internal energy harmonized with breathing and mechanical advantage, distinguishes Daito-Ryu from other jujutsu. Daito-Ryu is suitable for all people, regardless of their size or strength.

About us
We are a shibu or branch dojo of Takumakai. Takumakai is based in the Kansai area of Japan and headed by Hakaru Mori, Soumucho. We meet regularly to practice Daito-Ryu Aikijujutsu. Our principle teachers are Kawabe Takeshi Shihan and Umei Shinichiro Sensei. We began our training in Takumakai in 1998 and continue training with regular trips to Japan. Japanese teachers also make periodic visits to oversee our training.
